The crazy deal saw the exchange of hands as the Bulls received the 2020 Slam Dunk contest winner Derrick Jones Jr. The Blazers got Larry Nance Jr. and the Cavs locked Lauri Markkanen in the deal that reignited the trade market. But what did the NY-based team get out of this?

The Cavaliers have something to offer the Brooklyn Nets too

With the Cavaliers, the 24-YO power forward Lauri Markkanen will sign a $67 million four-year deal. In the same deal, the Cavs will shell out their 2023 second-rounder via Denver towards the Bulls.

Now, this would mean a clogged up frontcourt for the Cleveland-based franchise. They already have USC’s 7-ft giant Evan Mobley as their lottery pick coupled with star center Jarrett Allen. With this youthful trio already on the court, an aging Kevin Love might have to see huge cuts in his playing minutes.

Hence, the situation points towards the Cavs reaching a buyout with their star forward. If that happens, the Nets can call the shots and sign Kevin to a veteran’s minimum deal.

How can Kevin Love help his possible new destination?

Currently, the news is making rounds that the Nets might soon lose All-Star DeAndre Jordan. Now, this past year, they already lost LaMarcus Aldridge to a medical condition, and it arguably weakened their otherwise bulky roster. So to give their frontcourt a little boost, the Nets might like the services of a former champion and a 5x All-Star.

Plus, Kevin Love recently spent some time with Kevin Durant during the Tokyo Olympics exhibition games. Moreover, he has already played three successful seasons alongside Kyrie Irving, and hence, gelling up with this new team won’t be a problem. Last but not least, his experience of sharing the court with LeBron James can help the Nets’ bid to become a better roster than the Lakers.

Coach Nash can exploit Love’s shooting skills and also his knack for grabbing steals to their advantage. So what do you think, can this deal get real in the coming days? Help us know in the comments section below.
