Shots rang out in Queens early Thursday morning after two men drew guns on each other following an argument, sources said

A New York City school safety agent is dead after her boyfriend and her ex got into a dispute that escalated into gunfire, police sources said.

Cops responded early Thursday morning to a report of shots fired on Steinway Street near Astoria Boulevard, after a dispute involving a large crowd celebrating a birthday party around 4 a.m. Officers found three 27-year-olds wounded at the scene.

One of them, a woman shot in the torso and leg three times, later died at Mount Sinai-Queens. She was later identified as Mye Johnson, a school safety agent assigned to Brooklyn North since 2017. Johnson, who had a 7-year-old son, had been on personal leave from the department since 2020.

Johnson’s family declined to comment on Thursday.

Another woman was shot in her arm, and a man was struck in the buttocks and shoulder; Neither of their identities have been released, but both were expected to recover. Police sources said that the injured man was Johnson’s current boyfriend.

Police sources involved in the investigation say a dispute broke out between the woman’s boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend, leading them to pull guns on each other. The ex fired, the sources say, and the deceased, her boyfriend and another woman were hit.

Witnesses told police they saw at least one gunman flee the scene in a white BMW. Investigators said they have already found the car described in New Jersey.

No arrests have yet been made. Investigators are still looking for one or more shooters.
