Shirtless, shoeless carjacking suspect slips NYPD custody at Brooklyn hospital

A Brooklyn carjacking suspect escaped from custody and disappeared shirtless, shoeless and still handcuffed into the freezing morning air Wednesday, police said.

Akeem Williams, 21, fled Brookdale Hospital at about 8:30 a.m., when the temperature in Brooklyn was about 28 degrees.

He was wanted for a carjacking in Brownsville and cops found him at his mother’s apartment in the same neighborhood.

Officers brought him to the 73rd Precinct for processing. When he complained of chest pains, cops accompanied him to the hospital, his legs shackled and his arms cuffed behind his back.

His leg shackles were removed, and while at the hospital, he managed to maneuver his cuffed hands in front of his body before he ran off.

Cops released photos of Williams on Wednesday, and asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
