Jersey City Man Wanted for November Murder Arrested in North Carolina

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ- A Jersey City man was arrested in North Carolina on Thursday in connection with the November 13 fatal shooting of Ishamell McCany.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Anthony King, 34, has been charged with Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. He remains in North Carolina awaiting extradition to New Jersey. 

As previously reported, on the day of the incident members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of Grant Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive just after 4:00 a.m. after hearing gunshots. The responding Police Officers found McCany with a gunshot wound to the torso.

McCany was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 4:20 a.m. 

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
