N.O.R.E. is taking one the backlash of his most recent interview head on following one of his biggest Drink Champs show yet.Kanye West was a guest on the popular podcast for the third time, which aired Saturday night. Following the airing, the three hour conversation was discussed in length on social media with many going against N.O.R.E.’s lack of pushback, and offended by Ye’s comments throughout the interview.
N.O.R.E. heard all the backlash, and decided to come on Ebro in the Morning and discuss his decision to bring Ye back on, the lack of pushback during the conversation, his regrets, and the backlash against the episode.“I felt i could control the situation,” N.O.R.E. said to Rosenberg, Laura Stylez, Shani Kulture, and DJ Kast One. “I felt like I can control the interview. And I learned early on that I didn’t. As a black man i feel like I failed. As a human I feel like I failed. As a Journalist I feel like I succeeded.”
He then went on to apologize for those hurt by Ye’s comments, and his lack of response during the interview.
“I sincerely apologize to anybody who was hurt by Kanye’s words, by Kanye’s actions,”
he said.Later throughout the conversation, DJ Kast One decided to ask if he believe allowing Ye to spew so much hateful rhetoric unopposed brings the conversation on race and inequality backwards.“That’s why I’m taking responsibility.” N.O.R.E. responded.
“I didn’t think he was going to spread this ideology. I didn’t think he was going to go there. I thought he was going to have a couple drinks. He smoked blunts with us. I thought it was going to be light-hearted.”Watch the full conversation above.
