Oschino Vasquez, formerly of State Property and Roc-A-Fella Records, spoke candidly about a time when Jadakiss tried to warn him about signing to the once-coveted record label.
Oschino’s story of how he signed with Roc-A-Fella found him joining the label after a conversation with Jay-Z in a bathroom. The rapper presented the idea to Jadakiss before signing, with Jada advising against the move. While on the ‘Philly First 48’ podcast, Oschino said, “After I left out, I went to tell Kiss and them. I told Kiss, ‘JAY-Z gon’ sign me tomorrow.’ He goes, ‘Oh, don’t do it. I’m telling you don’t do it.’”
He continued, “He was looking out for me, and I was afraid of telling him what happened and s**t because I just turned 21. He was tryna get out the contract with Diddy but they was holding him.” Oschino ultimately left the label once Roc-A-Fella Records made their split public in 2004. Watch above.
