Kid Cudi recently revealed that he has new music on the way while also breaking down two of his fan-favorite projects.
During a brief question and answer session on Twitter Friday (December 16), the Cleveland-bred MC responded to a tweet from a user who explained her theory of why Kid Cudi’s 2016 album Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ (PPDS) could have easily doubled as his 2020 project Man On The Moon III: The Chosen (MOTM3).
In addition to revealing his feelings about the pair of albums, Kid Cudi essentially validated the fan’s comments by revealing that PPDS was nearly released as MOMT3 in the first place.
“I feel u becuz ur right,” Kid Cudi started off in his response. “PPDS was originally suppose to be MOTM3 but I named it something diff. Im glad it wasnt tho becuz I needed to be in a better place whenever I did MOTM3. Im glad things worked out. I couldnt be prouder of MOTM3 and PPDS. Theyre both perfection to me.”
Kid Cudi went on to drop yet another bombshell by tweeting his plans to his upcoming album will feature one of the two collaborations he did last year with Young Stoner Life Records rap boss Young Thug, who is currently incarcerated under Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations case.
“I got 2 songs w Thug I did last year,” Cudi tweeted. “1 of them goin on the new album the other he’ll use. These songs are fuckin INSANE. Im tellin u. U have no idea
News of Kid Cudi’s upcoming project follows his previous claims that he wanted an escape from the “madness” of crafting an album following the September release of his Netflix series and corresponding soundtrack album Entergalactic.
In addition to tweeting his feelings about the strenuous process of working on a full-length release, Kid Cudi seemingly suggested the project would be his last album as a solo artist during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in September.
The Kid Cudi stuff, I think I want to put it on the back burner and chill out with that,” he said. “I think, I want to be done with it. I think, closing the chapter on Kid Cudi. The goal for Entergalactic, I was bored of making albums.
“Just, doing an album, two music videos and that’s it,” he added. “And I was like, ‘Man, I went into this wanting to do something epic and different.’ And now, that I’ve done that, I just… I’ve made a lot of music, man.”
Though details about Kid Cudi’s upcoming album are fairly scarce, fans can also possibly expect producer Mike Dean to be a part of the release. In a recent post to his Instagram Story, Dean showed his support for Cudi by reposting a tweet the “Tequila Shots” rapper shared in which he bragged about com
