Kodak Black is going down a path to higher education after he revealed he’s enrolled at Arizona State University (ASU).
Earlier this week, the Florida rapper hopped on his Instagram Story to let his fans know that he is now a student at ASU after getting his GED while behind bars. While he vowed to “apply” himself at the school, Yak believes the professors could learn a thing or two from him.
Arizona beennn one of my states fun fact: I’m really enrolled in ASU college after getting my GED in jail I’m jus in love wit applying myself although money so long I can teach the school something,” Kodak wrote.
He added: “Anywayssss yea its lit this week ‘AZ’ Super Bowl week I’m in my mood I’m home in my comfort zone reallll comfy.”
Kodak will have an arduous task ahead of him balancing his rap career and studies. However, he’s not the first rapper to enroll in college after catapulting to fame.
Lil Wayne obtained his GED and chose to study at the University of Houston (UH), but due to schedule conflicts was forced to drop out. He continued his studies with online courses at the University of Phoenix and earned an honorary diploma in 2008.
In addition to being back in school, Kodak Black is also getting ready to release a new album. Last month, the Florida native revealed on Instagram Live that he’s hard at work on his next project and aiming for a February release.
Yak’s last studio album, Back For Everything, was released in February 2022 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, earning 60,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. He followed it up with the Kutthroat Bill: Vol. 1 mixtape in October
The Sniper Gang boss has also been dipping his toes in the fashion world. Last month, the 25-year-old made his runway debut during Paris Fashion Week and unveiled his first-ever fashion collaboration with menswear designer Doni Nahmias.
Kodak unveiled a 10-piece ensemble inspired by retro clothing, music and the rapper’s own personal lyrics. While he was walking through the show, the Florida native performed his song “Super Gremlin” while wearing a purple faux-fur coat painted with lyrics from his personal notebook.
