Ice Spice has seemingly thrown some petty shade in the direction of Latto on two tracks off her new project Like..? (Deluxe).
The slightly expanded project — a follow-up to her January EP, Like..? — features her breakout singles, “Munch (Feelin’ U),” “In Ha Mood” and “Bikini Bottom,” as well as two new offerings titled “How High?” and “Butterfly Ku.
On “How High?” the Bronx native rips a page out of Biggie’s rhyme book by spitting: “Now she all on the floor when I kick in the door/How you mad I do less ’cause you gotta do more?” ripping a page out of Biggie’s rhyme book.
And on “Butterfly Ku,” she raps: “Where she at? On the floor/ She gettin’ money, but I’m gettin’ more.”
Both sets of bars appear to make reference to Latto’s mega-hit, “Put It On Da Floor.”
Tension between the two rap starlets has apparently been brewing in recent months.
In March, Latto clapped back at a fan who accused her of copying Ice Spice, adding that she’s sick of people misinterpreting her tweets.
The accusations were made after the “Big Energy” hitmaker posted a photo on Instagram of her striking a similar pose to that of Spice on the cover of her Like..? EP, with one fan writing: “YOUUUU posted this… so YOU’RE creating the narrative!”
Latto responded to the fan in question by writing: “Every time y’all accuse me of copying folks ima clear it up. Nun mo nun less.” She added in a separate tweet: “I don’t like how y’all take my tweets & make them fit ur weak ass narratives.”
Before that, Latto was caught off guard at a red carpet event in January when an interviewer asked her to complete the lyrics to Ice Spice’s viral hit “Bikini Bottom.” The Atlanta native appeared lost and needed help finishing the rhymes.
Fans found it odd that Latto wouldn’t know the lyrics to “Bikini Bottom” because of how active she is on TikTok, and theorized that she may not be a fan of Ice Spice.
The rivalry may also have been fueled by Nicki Minaj, who crowned Ice Spice the Princess of Rap earlier this year and has dropped two collaborations with the rising star: “Princess Diana” and “Barbie World.”
Her lofty co-sign came after she got into a heated Twitter spat with Latto over the 2023 Grammy Award nominations, which saw the pair trade personal insults and leak private DMs from one another.
