WESTSIDE GUNN JOINS CURREN$Y, BOLDY JAMES & THE ALCHEMIST ON ‘NO YEAST (REMIX)’: LISTEN

Westside Gunn has joined forces with Curren$y, Boldy James and The Alchemist for the official remix to “No Yeast” — listen to it below.

Released on Wednesday (November 15), the soul-sampling track features all brand-new verses from the trio, with Detroit’s Boldy kicking off proceedings with a typically laid-back verse about his rap success and dope boy past — which evidently aren’t far removed.

When n-ggas sent for me, who took the hit? He should have quit his job/ We cooked the beef then grilled him with with the stick, now he a shish kabob,” he spits with casual menace.

Westside Gunn then takes the baton from his Griselda running mate and goes on to flex about his rags-to-riches story and life of newfound luxuries.

In Honolulu, Dior daddy shorts looking new new/ Never call me NuNu if I never knew you/ Got twin bitches with fake titties blowing my dice at the Caesars/ My wrist dancing like Sammy Davis,” he brags.

Spitta takes the trio across the finish line as he floats high above the smooth Alchemist beat for over a minute.

When push come to shove, that’s brass knuckles underneath the glove/ Push the envelope to the judge/ Less than a quarter million on that stubborn bitch, won’t budge/ We knew what it was before them shooters even pulled up,” the Jet Life pilot rhymes.

The original song, featuring Boldy James, landed on Curren$y and The Alchemist’s joint album Continuance, which dropped in February 2022.

The project also boasted appearances from Wiz Khalifa, Styles P, Babyface Ray, Havoc and Larry June. It served as Spitta and Uncle Al’s third full-length collaboration following 2011’s Covert Coup and 2016’s The Carrollton Heist.

Meanwhile, Westside Gunn has enjoyed another busy year having released his latest album And Then You Pray For Me last month.

The star-studded project, the sequel to his 2020 release Pray For Paris, will be his last studio album.

This is] going to be the last album where I take the time to say ‘this is an album,’” Gunn said in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

“When I was doing the Hitler Wears Hermes series, I was doing all them projects like mixtapes. I was recording the whole shit in two, three days.

I’m not saying I won’t come with a five-song EP with Madlib or I won’t do a seven-song EP with Alchemist or I won’t rap. I’ll do all of that, but making a studio album, I’m done with all that.”

Still, the Buffalo, New York native has big plans for 2024, including making a sequel to 2019’s WWCD (What Would Chine Gun Do) with Conway The Machine and Benny The Butcher.

24 is gonna be probably one of the biggest years for Griselda,” he told Complex last month. “For the last couple years, Conway been doing his thing and he has a label, Drum Work, that he’s pushing, he’s the boss of. And Benny has BSF and he’s the the boss of his label. But we are family.

“There’s nothing stronger than us three together. We gotta come together and give people What Would Chine Gun Do 2 — we have to for the culture.”
