HipHopRaisedMeTheBlog.com reports that Daddy Yankee, the Grammy-nominated reggaeton pioneer, has officially announced the end of his 30-year marriage to Mireddys González. The Puerto Rican music icon shared the news through his Instagram Stories, marking a significant moment in his personal life.
In his message, the 47-year-old artist explained that the decision to separate came after extensive efforts to mend their relationship. “With a heart full of respect and honesty, I want to share some important news about my personal life,” he wrote. “After more than two decades of marriage and many months of trying to save my marriage, today my lawyers respond to the divorce petition received by Mireddys.”
Yankee characterized the split as a challenging yet necessary step in his life journey. “This is not an easy time, but I understand that this is part of my life process,” he stated. “It is time to accept and continue—protect my stability, my children, and everything built over so many years. I deeply thank those who have accompanied us during this journey and I ask that you respect our privacy in this process. I know that this news may surprise many.”
The couple’s relationship began during their teenage years, and by the time Yankee was just 17, they welcomed their first child, Jesaaelys, in 1994. They later expanded their family with two more children, a son and another daughter. Throughout their years together, they maintained a relatively private life, even as Daddy Yankee’s career skyrocketed with chart-topping hits like “Gasolina” and the global phenomenon “Despacito.”
Yankee’s collaboration with Luis Fonsi on “Despacito” in 2017 became a historic success, achieving record milestones, including being the most-watched video on YouTube at the time.
