This marks Kendrick’s sixth consecutive number-one album, following To Pimp a Butterfly, untitled unmastered., DAMN., Black Panther: The Album, and Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
With the highest sales of any new rap album this year, GNX surpasses releases from other hip-hop heavyweights, including Tyler, The Creator’s Chromakopia (299,500), Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady (281,000), and Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You (251,000).
Kendrick continues to dominate the Billboard Hot 100, holding seven of the top ten spots, with tracks like “Squabble Up” poised to become his third number one single of the year.
A deluxe edition of GNX has also been hinted at, with “TV Off” collaborator Lefty Gunplay stating that Kendrick has more material coming soon.
