HipHopRaisedMeTheBlog.com is thrilled to announce that A$AP Rocky has received the esteemed Cultural Innovator Award at the 2024 Fashion Awards. This recognition celebrates individuals in the entertainment industry who have made significant contributions to fashion and culture over the past year.
During the ceremony, held in the UK on December 2, Rocky made a stylish appearance in a navy Bottega Veneta suit, while his partner Rihanna proudly captured the moment from the audience. On stage, he expressed his excitement, stating, “I’ma come clean, this is surreal right now. This is crazy! It’s about f**kin’ time, you know what I’m saying? But honestly though, I’m very honored. Being a cultural innovator means so much to me, especially as a rapper with ventures in the fashion industry. I think the lines are definitely merged now.”
He concluded his speech with an inspiring message for aspiring designers: “To all the young designers who were nominated today, I hope this is a ticket of encouragement to show you that you can do this too.”
On the music front, A$AP Rocky has been gearing up for the release of his long-anticipated album, Don’t Be Dumb. Initially set to arrive in August, the release has faced delays, with fans noticing that retailers have canceled pre-orders for the vinyl edition without further explanation. During a recent launch event for his A$AP Puma Takeover in New York City, Rocky assured fans that the album would come “ASAP, n-gga” when asked about it.
The album was first announced back in June during Paris Fashion Week, where Rocky debuted his AWGE “American Sabotage” clothing collection alongside a star-studded audience, including Rihanna, Pharrell, and Pusha T. Don’t Be Dumb will mark Rocky’s first album in six years and will follow his previous LP, Testing, which received mixed reviews upon its release in 2018.
Rocky has attributed some of the delays to music leaks, stating, “They gotta stop leaking it! These dummies got to stop leaking sh*t. Every time, we have to go back to the drawing board.” In a cover story for Billboard, he expressed frustration over the leaks ruining his plans, mentioning that he had been working on the album for six years and that it had impacted his ability to release certain projects, like his “Taylor Swift” video.
Describing the new album as “grim” and a blend of “German expressionism and ghetto futurism,” Rocky has collaborated with notable figures such as composer Danny Elfman and producers like Metro Boomin, Tyler, The Creator, Pharrell, Madlib, and Mike Dean.
