HipHopRaisedMeTheBlog.com reports that DJ Yella, the legendary member of N.W.A, recently made headlines after a video surfaced of him exorcising a “demon” during a church service that was streamed online.
On December 2, DJ Yella shared a clip of this intense spiritual moment on Instagram, writing, “You’re Now About To Witness Something Real: And The Power Of GOD!!!” This statement cleverly references the iconic opening lines of N.W.A’s classic track “Straight Outta Compton.”
In the footage, DJ Yella is seen standing on stage next to a pastor, who expresses gratitude to the hip-hop pioneer for finding his faith. However, the atmosphere shifts dramatically when Yella seemingly enters a trance as the pastor begins to pray. He then starts to strain and grunt loudly for several moments, leading the pastor to instruct him to “release him, all the way out.” After this intense experience, Yella returns to his normal state.
Reactions to Yella’s exorcism varied widely on social media. Some viewers were skeptical, with one commenting, “Lol are we serious right now?” while another added, “Man stop the shenanigans [crying face emoji].” Conversely, others were supportive, with one fan praising him, saying, “That’s beautiful Yella!! I know you must have felt a change after that!”
DJ Yella has previously spoken about his spiritual journey, revealing in 2021 that he found God after a career in the adult film industry. In an interview with HipHopDX, he stated, “I’d never looked to God. I never thought about God. I didn’t know anything about it, and He still came and got me when I was homeless in my darkest times at the bottom of my life ever and pulled me out.”
He continued, “God came and got me. He still wanted me, even though I was at the bottom. The world and the devil didn’t even want me no more. When the devil’s done with you, you’re done.” Since embracing his faith, Yella has become actively involved in his church, attending services twice a week and serving as a deacon.
In discussing his memoir, Straight Outta Compton: My Untold Story, he emphasized that his purpose in writing it was not for financial gain, but to showcase the goodness of God. “He even got me — this horrible, terrible sinner. He even got me. If He can get me, He can get anybody,” he expressed.
