Authorities in Colombia have announced the recent arrest of a woman known as “The Doll,” who is reportedly a notorious assassin working for a criminal gang implicated in numerous murders across the country.
The police force in the Magdalena Medio region released a video on social media showcasing the arrest of Karen Juliet Ojeda Rodríguez, a 22-year-old woman, alongside a male accomplice identified by the alias “Leopoldo.”
The police revealed that both suspects were apprehended while in possession of a 9mm handgun, which is currently undergoing ballistic testing to determine if it has been utilized in any criminal activities in the city of Barrancabermeja.
Lieutenant Colonel Mauricio Herrera stated that these arrests represent significant progress in the fight against homicide in the region.
Local news outlet Diario del Norte reported that Ojeda, also referred to as “La Muñeca,” serves as the second-in-command of a gang known as “Los de la M,” which is engaged in violent turf wars with rival criminal organizations for control over drug trafficking routes in the northern region of Santander.
According to reports, Ojeda entered the criminal world at the age of 18 and was responsible for orchestrating targeted killings. Notably, she is also alleged to have murdered her former partner, known as “Orejas” or “Ears.”
Despite attempts by CBS News to obtain additional information from the Magdalena Medio police press office, there has been no immediate response.
The city of Barrancabermeja has seen a troubling surge in violence, with over 120 homicides reported thus far this year, as noted by El Espectador.
