In a recent podcast appearance, Snoop Dogg expressed his disapproval of Lil Wayne’s reaction to Kendrick Lamar being selected as the headliner for the Halftime Show, suggesting that Weezy is displaying an unwarranted sense of entitlement.

As an enduring icon in hip hop, Snoop Dogg remains an influential voice in the genre. He has consistently supported Kendrick Lamar amid the ongoing tensions with Young Money, showing his preference for Lamar over other high-profile artists like Drake. During his conversation on the “Drink Champs” podcast with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg defended Lamar against Wayne’s criticisms regarding the Super Bowl performance.

Snoop Dogg Accused Lil Wayne Of Acting Entitled

The controversy arose when Kendrick was announced as the headliner for the Super Bowl Halftime Show in Lil Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans. While Wayne voiced his disappointment with the choice, Snoop Dogg believes that this reaction is overly sensitive.

Snoop stated, “This is a big event. You should just be honored that hip hop is able to be showcased on such a platform, and instead of hating on someone else, you should be happy.” Having performed at the Super Bowl alongside Dr. Dre and Kendrick, Snoop expressed confusion over Wayne’s feelings of entitlement, emphasizing that no artist should assume they are “guaranteed” a spot in the show. “I didn’t feel like I was supposed to be there or in demand to be there,” he explained. “People consider many factors when selecting performers.”

While Snoop did not mention Lil Wayne directly, he took the opportunity to commend JAY-Z for his role in elevating hip hop artists to prominent stages. “Before JAY-Z took control of the Super Bowl, there weren’t many of us performing,” he remarked. “He’s paving the way for a new generation of artists.” Snoop concluded by reassuring Wayne that his moment will come, whether it’s in 2025 or beyond. The contrasting views of these two legends only highlight the divide in their perspectives regarding the Super Bowl performance.5
