Big Boi Reveals His Choice for OutKast’s Greatest Song: ‘It’s So Enchanting’
Big Boi has shared his favorite track from OutKast’s extensive discography, and surprisingly, it isn’t one of their well-known commercial hits.
In a recent episode of Complex’s GOAT Talk, released on December 11, Big Boi, also known as Daddy Fat Sax, joined Shaun White to discuss their picks for the greatest songs across various categories. When it came to OutKast’s best song, Big Boi chose “SpottieOttieDopaliscious” from their iconic 1998 album, Aquemini.
He elaborated, “Because the horns. It’s just so enchanting. So when you get in the Cadillac, you turn that on and you ride around.”
In the same conversation, Big Boi reflected on what he considers his greatest verse, as well as AndrĂ© 3000’s standout moments. He mentioned, “There’s just so many of them,” when discussing his own verses, noting “ATLiens” and the memorable line, “I’m cooler than a polar bear’s toenails!”
Regarding AndrĂ©’s contributions, he highlighted “B.O.B.”, praising its powerful opening, which inspired him to elevate his own performance on the track.
OutKast fans are holding onto hope for a reunion in 2028, especially with rumors suggesting that the Super Bowl may be hosted in Atlanta that year. Reports from the AJC indicated that the NFL is likely to award Super Bowl LXII to the city. Following this news, fans have been vocal about wanting to see the legendary duo take the stage, although there are also calls for Future to perform.
It’s important to remember, though, that the artists performing at the Super Bowl don’t always correlate with local talent. This was evident last year when Kendrick Lamar was announced as the headliner for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, despite fans advocating for Lil Wayne.
Although it has been years since OutKast last collaborated, André 3000 recently expressed his interest in working on another album. The possibility remains uncertain, but the desire is there.
In a past interview with CBS Mornings, André discussed the idea of reuniting with Big Boi. He noted that while Big Boi hasn’t pressured him to get back together, he recognizes the excitement that a new project could bring. “No, to be honest,” he stated when asked if Big Boi ever pushed for a reunion. “But I’m sure like, I want another OutKast album. Yeah, like in my mind – but see, that’s the thing. That’s the human side. I want an OutKast album a long time ago.”
In the meantime, Big Boi is focusing on his own music. He expressed that creating a solo rap project would be fulfilling for him personally, driven by the challenge of making his life interesting through his lyrics. “Honestly for me as an individual, it would be gratifying to me to put out a solo rap situation. But not for nobody else at this point. It’s for me because I actually like the challenge,” he explained.
Stay tuned for more updates on OutKast and their future projects.
