Rio Da Yung OG Takes Private Jet to ATL for First Track After Prison Release

Rapper Rio Da Yung OG, a significant figure in the Michigan hip-hop resurgence, has officially returned to the music scene following his release from federal prison. He served approximately four years for drug trafficking before being freed on Wednesday, and he’s ready to pick up where he left off!
TMZ Hip Hop has obtained footage capturing Rio’s first moments of freedom, and it’s clear he’s diving headfirst into his musical journey. Shortly after his release, the “2 Faced” MC reconnected with his team and Empire label executives and immediately boarded a private jet. Reports indicate that he flew from Arkansas to Memphis, then on to Atlanta, where he recorded his latest track titled “Rio Free.”
Taking a cue from Tee Grizzley, who set the trend for rappers to hit the studio right after gaining their freedom, Rio brought plenty of energy to the session, even sharing insights on how he managed to hide contraband during his time in prison.
While Rio will remain in federal custody until July 2025, followed by 18 months of supervised release, he is clearly poised for a strong comeback in his rap career.

To celebrate his return, Rio will kick off the new year with a welcome home show at Detroit’s Masonic Temple Theatre on January 11th.
Stay tuned for more updates on his journey!
