J. Cole Teases “The Fall Off” Release Date During Anniversary Concert

New material is right around the corner.

J. Cole continued to delight longtime fans on December 17. The rapper put on a one-night concert to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his classic album 2014 Forest Hills Drive. This event marked the end of a reflective journey for Cole, who has been revisiting the early stages of his career. Through his podcast Inevitable, he has shared insights into the making of his mixtapes and albums, and he even made his first three mixtapes available on streaming platforms for the very first time. However, as the concert drew to a close, J. Cole hinted at plans for a future release that had fans buzzing with excitement.

Cole delighted the audience with a setlist that included deep cuts, fan favorites, and hit singles. Yet, it was when he prepared to exit the stage that the anticipation for what’s next intensified. The rapper alluded to the upcoming Dreamville Fest, telling fans, “See y’all at Dreamville Fest. Hopefully I have something new to perform for y’all.” Scheduled for April 2025, this means Cole aims to drop his next project in the first quarter of the year.

J. Cole Hinted At A First Quarter Release Date

This thrilling revelation is certainly not surprising. J. Cole has spent much of 2024 reflecting on his career. Following the “Big Three” battle and its aftermath, he has taken a step back to focus on his legacy. He has already confirmed that the upcoming Dreamville Fest will be the last, and he has consistently stated that The Fall Off will be his final album. Fans have been anticipating this project since 2018, when J. Cole released “1985 (Intro to The Fall Off)” at the conclusion of KOD.

Cole noted that the album was nearly finished as far back as February. During the Tampa leg of the It’s All a Blur tour, he told the audience, “Right now, I’m at the tail-end of working on this album. I’ve been working on it for a long time. It’s called The Fall Off.” In a moment that now feels particularly surreal, Drake even chimed in, asserting that The Fall Off will be a classic. While it’s hard to envision Drizzy endorsing a Cole album now, fans are undoubtedly excited to hear it regardless.

As we gear up for this next chapter in J. Cole’s career, one thing is clear: anticipation is at an all-time high, and the hip-hop community is eager to see how this final project unfolds.
