JAY-Z’s Roc Nation Faces Lawsuit from Rape Accuser’s Lawyer Over Alleged Bribery Claims

In a dramatic turn of events, JAY-Z’s Roc Nation has been hit with a lawsuit filed by Tony Buzbee, the attorney representing the anonymous woman accusing the rap mogul of rape. The lawsuit alleges that Roc Nation and JAY-Z’s legal team engaged in bribery and sought to intimidate Buzbee and his clients.
The Texas-based lawyer’s latest legal action accuses Roc Nation of conspiring to obstruct justice by employing dubious operatives to contact over two dozen current and former clients of The Buzbee Law Firm. These operatives allegedly attempted to persuade these clients to file frivolous lawsuits against Buzbee.
Reports indicate that Buzbee claims these individuals have posed as officials from the State of Texas, even displaying fake badges to lend credibility to their approach. Furthermore, he asserts that he has recorded evidence of his clients being offered substantial sums—over $10,000—to take legal action against him, which he suggests began shortly after he issued a demand letter to JAY-Z’s attorneys in November.
In response to the allegations, Roc Nation issued a statement dismissing Buzbee’s lawsuit as a “sham” and an effort to draw attention away from the case. “Tony Buzbee’s baloney lawsuit against Roc Nation is nothing but another sham. It’s a pathetic attempt to distract and deflect attention. This sideshow won’t change the ultimate outcome and true justice will be served soon,” the statement read.
Buzbee initially raised concerns about bribery on social media earlier this month, sharing images purportedly showing investigators and a transcript of a recorded interaction with one of his clients. In his post, he alleged, “Investigators from New York have contacted many of our law firm’s current and former clients. These investigators aren’t very smart. What they didn’t anticipate was one of the clients decided to record the conversation. It’s shocking, and illegal.”
The shared transcript reportedly reveals one of the investigators informing Buzbee’s client that they could receive payment for their participation, referencing another individual who allegedly received $1,000 for agreeing to cooperate.
In a related development, JAY-Z has filed his own lawsuit against Buzbee, accusing him of extortion linked to the recent allegations involving a 13-year-old girl from 2000, claims which both JAY-Z and Diddy have firmly denied. Hov’s legal team presented evidence this week that contradicts the alleged events, while the anonymous accuser has acknowledged discrepancies in her account.
As this legal saga unfolds, it continues to draw significant attention within the music industry and beyond.
