Redman has made a triumphant return to music with the release of Muddy Waters Too, the highly anticipated sequel to his iconic 1996 album. Dropping on Christmas Eve, this extensive 32-track project features an impressive lineup of guest appearances from hip-hop heavyweights, including Method Man, Snoop Dogg, and KRS-One, alongside legends like Queen Latifah and Naughty By Nature.
The album showcases production from notable figures such as Erick Sermon and Rockwilder, alongside contributions from Redman himself. Continuing the legacy of his “Soopaman Luva” series, Redman includes a seventh installment that features Melanie Rutherford.
With the announcement of the album’s release date just a week prior, Redman managed to build excitement through the singles “Jersey” and “Don’t Wanna C Me Rich.” Muddy Waters Too marks the New Jersey native’s first full-length project in nearly a decade, following 2015’s Mudface. In recent years, Redman has shifted his focus toward acting, with notable roles in Power Book II: Ghost and A Hip Hop Family Christmas.
In interviews, Redman has expressed his desire to collaborate with Method Man on a third installment of their Blackout! series. However, the duo currently seems more focused on their television and film projects, with Method Man emphasizing the importance of storytelling in their current endeavors.
Redman also reflected on his successful collaboration with Christina Aguilera on the hit single “Dirrty,” highlighting the stark differences in the music industry between pop and hip-hop. His experience touring with Aguilera and the financial success from that collaboration left a lasting impression, showcasing the crossover appeal of his artistry.
Muddy Waters Too not only serves as a testament to Redman’s evolution as an artist but also reinforces his status as a hip-hop legend, continuing to influence and inspire both fans and fellow artists alike.
