Southwest T Celebrates Clemency with Rick Ross on Stage in Detroit

Terry “Southwest T” Flenory made a triumphant return to the spotlight as he joined Rick Ross on stage in Detroit, marking his first public appearance since President Biden commuted his sentence. The co-founder of the Black Mafia Family was among over 1,500 individuals granted clemency in a move aimed at pardoning those released from prison during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the Wild N’ Out show on December 23, Rick Ross invited Southwest T to perform alongside him during his hit song “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast),” which pays homage to Southwest T’s brother, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory. The moment was a celebration of freedom for Southwest T, who had been sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008 for his involvement in a drug trafficking and money laundering operation.

After being released to home confinement in May 2020 due to health concerns and the risks associated with COVID-19, Southwest T shared the news of his commuted sentence via Instagram, posting a video of himself having his ankle monitor removed. In his caption, he expressed gratitude for the journey and the power of prayer, stating, “Now It’s official! It’s been a journey, but prayer and unwavering faith beyond mere human comprehension got us to this point.”

Big Meech, who completed his sentence and was released to a halfway house in October, continues to be a significant figure in the narrative surrounding the Black Mafia Family. Southwest T’s recent appearance with Rick Ross signals a new chapter as he embraces his freedom and the opportunities that lie ahead.
