Beyoncé made a significant impact on the NFL’s streaming numbers with her highly-praised halftime performance during the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans game on Christmas Day. This game, along with the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers matchup, aired exclusively on Netflix, and according to a report from CNBC, they have now become the most streamed NFL games in U.S. history.
A remarkable 65 million viewers tuned in across the country, with the Ravens-Texans game averaging 24.3 million viewers, while the Chiefs-Steelers game attracted 24.1 million. Beyoncé’s halftime show alone captivated over 27 million viewers, showcasing her much-anticipated country-themed album, Cowboy Carter.
The holiday games also marked the beginning of a three-year partnership between the NFL and Netflix to exclusively stream Christmas matchups. Beyoncé’s star-studded set included a special appearance from her daughter, Blue Ivy, alongside several other collaborators from Cowboy Carter. Post Malone joined her for a performance of their collaboration “Levii’s Jeans,” while Shaboozey dueted on “Sweet ★ Honey ★ Buckiin.” Additionally, Beyoncé was accompanied by the four women featured on “Blackbiird”: Tiera Kennedy, Brittney Spencer, Tanner Adell, and Reyna Roberts.
Shortly after her performance, Beyoncé teased a major announcement on social media. Sharing a video of herself on a white horse while waving a large American flag, she captioned the post with, “Look at that horse.” The video concluded with a date: January 14, leading to speculation among fans that she could be dropping a new tour or possibly a new album.
This Christmas has been a joyous occasion for the “Single Ladies” icon, who recently received 58 new certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for her albums and singles throughout her illustrious solo career. Among these were two Diamond certifications for her tracks “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “Halo,” both from her 2008 album I Am… Sasha Fierce, which have now surpassed 10 million units sold, achieving 11 times platinum status.
With an impressive catalog dating back to 2003, including numerous Gold, Platinum, and multi-Platinum certifications for her work with Destiny’s Child, it’s no surprise that Beyoncé was recently named the greatest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard.
