Doechii Taps ScHoolboy Q, Earl Sweatshirt & More For ‘Denial Is A River’ Trailer: Watch

Doechii has gathered an impressive lineup of stars for the trailer of her upcoming project, “Denial Is A River.” Released on December 26, the trailer evokes a nostalgic vibe, featuring references to the iconic sitcom Family Matters and an overall retro aesthetic.

The short clip showcases appearances from Doechii herself, along with her labelmates ScHoolboy Q and SiR. Other notable cameos include Teezo Touchdown, Baby Tate, Zack Fox, Rickey Thompson, and DJ Miss Milan. Earl Sweatshirt also makes a memorable entrance, humorously billed as “Brad Pitt,” a clever nod to the now-defunct Odd Future TV show Loiter Squad.

The trailer announces that “Denial Is A River” will premiere on January 2. While it doesn’t explicitly clarify whether it’s a television show, the content suggests it might be. Alternatively, it could serve as a creative marketing strategy for an upcoming music video for the title track, which is part of Doechii’s critically acclaimed mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal.

Doechii is also looking forward to her eagerly awaited debut album, set for release in 2025. In a recent interview with Variety, she shared insights about the project, emphasizing the incorporation of live instrumentation. “All I can think about is this album, so I’m just looking forward to making more hits, making more music, and achieving more of my goals,” she stated.

The Florida native has been receiving accolades from hip-hop veterans, with Killer Mike being one of the latest to commend her artistry. During a discussion at Los Angeles’ Grammy Museum, he remarked, “You truly are an artist. You’re not a rapper aspiring to be; you’ve been an artist. You choose rap to tell a story, but visually, [the cover of Alligator Bites Never Heal] is striking. It is absolutely a testimony to me that the South has produced an artist like you.”

Killer Mike further expressed his belief in her potential, stating, “There are many other artists out of Florida, but you are the tip of the spear right now. I think you are the leader in rap right now.”

As anticipation builds for both the trailer release and her debut album, Doechii continues to prove herself as a formidable force in the hip-hop landscape. Stay tuned for more updates on her exciting journey.
