SZA has reclaimed the top of the Billboard charts and is showing her support for fellow artist Ice Spice by praising her latest On The Radar freestyle. On Sunday, December 26, SZA took to Instagram to comment on Ice Spice’s performance, using a trio of fire emojis and the message, “She Ate This.” In the freestyle, Ice Spice reflects on her past, emphasizing that there’s no turning back.
While SZA’s endorsement was largely positive, social media responses have been mixed. One YouTube user noted, “She did really well here. People gon hate for jokes but I heard growth fr,” acknowledging the progress Ice Spice has made. Another user highlighted the significance of SZA’s support, stating, “That’s a huge co-sign! Ice Spice is already doing amazing, and getting recognition from SZA is a major boost. I need to check out this freestyle now!” However, some comments expressed concern for Ice Spice, pointing out that she seems affected by the criticism surrounding her body, with one user saying, “Guys I feel bad. She seems tired and hurt from all the hate and comments about her body. Please leave her alone. She has a soul; this song meant something.”
Ice Spice’s connection with On The Radar dates back to 2022, when the platform helped launch her career with the viral debut of her single “Munch.” That initial performance garnered over 3.7 million views on YouTube, sparking a bidding war for the rising star. Following her debut, Ice Spice released the EP Like..?, featuring collaborations with Nicki Minaj and Lil Tjay, and included hits like “In Ha Mood,” “Deli,” and “Princess Diana.”
Recently, Ice Spice gifted her fans with the deluxe version of her debut album for Christmas, titled Y2K!: I’m Just A Girl, which includes five new songs and features from DaBaby, NLE Choppa, and Anuel AA. Alongside the deluxe album, she also performed a freestyle for From The Block in the Bronx as part of her collaboration with On The Radar. The album Y2K! was released under Capitol Records/10k Project.
