SZA has reclaimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 with the highly anticipated deluxe version of her album SOS, titled SOS: Lana. The album’s return to the top was projected with an impressive 170,000 units sold, reflecting a remarkable 293% increase following its deluxe release. SZA’s SOS: Lana Debuted Again At The Top Of Billboard Charts
On December 27, Punch showed his unwavering support for SZA’s recent success by sharing a post on X that celebrated her achievement. His post included prayer emojis and a smiley face, signaling his enthusiasm for SZA reclaiming the top spot. The deluxe edition features 15 additional tracks that SZA referred to as “B-sides” from the original SOS era. However, some fans speculated whether the earlier split was genuine or merely a publicity stunt. Comments flooded in, with one user asking, “Was this just a joke for promo?” while another accused Punch of creating unnecessary drama. In response to the speculation, Punch updated his bio to clarify his role as SZA’s manager, putting rumors of a fallout to rest.
The original SOS album included collaborations with artists like Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard, with production credits from notable figures such as Babyface and Benny Blanco. SZA released six singles from the album, with five hitting the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The standout track, “Kill Bill,” marked her first number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200. Additionally, “Snooze” maintained its presence on the Billboard Hot 100 throughout 2023.
Meanwhile, Top Dawg Entertainment is navigating a new chapter after losing its marquee artist, Kendrick Lamar, in 2022. Following the release of Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, Lamar shifted his focus to pgLang, his label under Interscope, with his latest album, GNX, arriving on November 22. Looking ahead, SZA is set to join Lamar as a featured artist on his Grand National Tour, which kicks off in April 2025. As of December 29, Punch’s X description reads: “I manage SZA… TDE is the Family.”
