Katt Williams recently opened up about his experiences in Hollywood during an appearance on Theo Von’s podcast, This Past Weekend. The comedian recounted a particularly unsettling encounter with the notorious film producer Harvey Weinstein, who has been at the center of numerous sexual misconduct allegations.
Reflecting on his time in the industry, Williams described the moment he was offered two actresses by Weinstein as if they were “playing cards.” Williams expressed surprise at Weinstein’s power, stating, “I was as shocked as anybody about how powerful Harvey was.” When asked how he responded to the offer, Williams said without hesitation that he declined.
The comedian shared his philosophy on temptation, likening his approach to that of a superhero facing moral dilemmas. “In these scary situations, I don’t even leave it up to me,” he explained. “I’m gonna do what the superhero would do in this part of the movie.” Williams drew a parallel to the biblical story of Jesus being tempted by the Devil, suggesting that one can only be tempted by vice if they are seeking it. He remarked, “The Devil saying you could have all of this… And Him saying ‘You don’t have anything to offer me.’”
Interestingly, Williams’ revelations come as Weinstein himself is in the news again; he has requested to expedite his retrial for sex crimes, citing deteriorating health as a reason. Weinstein stated, “I can’t hold on anymore. I’m holding on because I want justice for myself and I want this to be over with.” The judge has agreed to consider moving the trial date up by one week.
Katt Williams’ candid discussion highlights the darker side of the entertainment industry while showcasing his resilience and refusal to succumb to pressure. As the legal proceedings against Weinstein continue, Williams’ experiences serve as a reminder of the challenges faced by many in Hollywood.
