Coi Leray is making waves in the music industry with her latest announcement: she has officially signed with Epic Records after four successful years with Universal Music Group. This strategic move comes as she prepares to release her new EP, What Happened to Forever, at midnight on February 12, 2025.
In an exclusive interview, Leray expressed her excitement about joining Epic, stating, “Epic is one of those labels who understands me as an artist and as a person, and I’m super appreciative of that. They support me rather than try to tell me what to do, and that’s all an artist can ask for when it comes to signing with a major label.” This sentiment reflects her desire for creative freedom and a supportive environment to nurture her artistry.
Coi Leray has already made a name for herself in the music scene, particularly with her 2023 hit single, “Players,” which achieved platinum certification and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance in 2024. She also received a nomination for Best Pop Dance Recording for her collaboration with David Guetta on “Baby Don’t Hurt,” featuring British singer Anne-Marie.
Her upcoming EP, What Happened to Forever, is described as “intensely personal” and consists of five tracks that draw inspiration from true events in her life. The project features production from notable names including Tommy Brown, CashMoney AP, ItsnotHarold, and Johnny Goldstein. Leray shared insights into the EP, saying, “A lot of people don’t understand that us artists go through real situations in life. I’m still healing, right? So it’s something I don’t want to speak about, but I guess I can say I let the music speak for me. [The] best way I can vent is through the music.”
Reflecting on her partnership with Epic, Leray noted the positive response she received from label executives Sylvia Rhone and Ezekiel Lewis after sharing her story and experiences as an artist. Their understanding and belief in her vision played a crucial role in her decision to join the label.
At just 27 years old, the New Jersey native is ready to take her career to the next level with this new chapter at Epic Records, joining the ranks of other celebrated artists such as Travis Scott, Andre 3000, Meghan Trainor, and Tyla.
Coi Leray’s move to Epic Records and the release of What Happened to Forever are set to mark an exciting new phase in her career, showcasing her growth as an artist and her commitment to sharing her authentic self through music.
