Key Glock Reveals Heart-Wrenching Hesitation on Posthumous Young Dolph Collaborations

Key Glock is grappling with the emotional weight of his past collaborations with Young Dolph, expressing deep reluctance to release any posthumous tracks featuring his late mentor. Despite having enough material for a potential collaboration tape, Glock admits that revisiting their Paper Route Empire days is painful.

In a candid discussion on the Funky Friday podcast with Cam Newton, Glock shared his feelings about the possibility of releasing new material alongside Dolph’s legacy. “I want to do another collab tape, of course,” he stated, but he emphasized that the joy of creating music together is overshadowed by grief. “It really don’t feel the same,” he explained, acknowledging that the emotional toll of reliving those memories is difficult. “I’m going to put so much work and thought into making sure it’s what he would have wanted. It would put a big hole in me, and I ain’t tryna do that right now.”

Glock also touched on his personal grieving process, revealing that he prefers to cope with his losses privately rather than openly discussing them. This sentiment reflects the profound impact Dolph had on his life and career, making the idea of posthumous releases particularly sensitive.

Key Glock and Young Dolph’s partnership produced two successful albums, including the Gold-certified “Dum and Dummer,” but Dolph’s tragic passing in 2021 has left a significant void. While fans are eager for more collaborations, Glock’s hesitation underscores the emotional complexities of honoring a friend and mentor through music.

As Key Glock continues to find success with his latest album, “Glockaveli,” which is projected to debut in the Billboard 200’s top ten, it remains to be seen if he will eventually feel ready to share any of the unreleased material with the world. For now, he prioritizes respect for Dolph’s legacy and his own emotional well-being, navigating the difficult path of remembrance and creativity.
