It was on this date Mark Howard James was born on October 16, 1961) professionally known as The 45 King (also known as DJ Mark the 45 King, is an American hip hop record producer and disc jockey (DJ) from The Bronx borough of New York City. James began DJing in New Jersey, in the mid-1980s. His pseudonym, the 45 King, came from his ability to make beats using obscure 45 RPM records.

Also on this date Hip Hop lost Micheal David Larsen (November 9, 1981 – October 16, 2010), better known by his stage name Eyedea, who was an American musician, rapper, and poet. He was a freestyle battle champion and songwriter from Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Eyedea died in his sleep on October 16, 2010 in his Saint Paul apartment. He was found dead by his mother, according to a friend.  Cause of death was released November 18, 2010 and ruled an accident, from respiratory depression, caused by opiate derivatives, according to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office. The specific drugs found in Larsen’s system have not been revealed to the public.
