Snoop Dogg and DJ Drama have released their new mixtape Gangsta Grillz: I Still Got It — check it out below.
Clocking in at 13 songs, the project boasts guest appearances from Juicy J, Dave East and Trinidad James, as well as longtime Snoop collaborators Kurupt and Daz Dillinger
The mixtape also highlights some of the current talent on Death Row Records — the legendary West Coast label Snoop purchased earlier this year — with cameos from singers October London and Jane Handcock.
Behind the boards, lowrider-friendly production is provided by the likes of Rick Rock, Don Cannon, Nick Papz, Hollywood Cole and even Snoop himself (under his production alias Dr. Bombay)
As the title suggests, however, the mixtape’s primary purpose is the 51-year-old rap icon and Gangsta Grillz general reminding listeners they’re still putting numbers on the board.
“I’ve been all around the world and I’ve been doing my thang-thang / Some say that I’m the reason why y’all gangbang / While you was in grade school, I’m takin’ faze full / Crippin’ is international so now we getting paid, fool,” Snoop raps on the thumping “I’ll Holla Back.”
Snoop Dogg and DJ Drama first announced Gangsta Grillz: I Still Got It in September while sharing a screenshot of them on a FaceTime call on Instagram.
The duo are no stranger to working together having previously teamed up on Tha Blue Carpet Treatment (Tha Mixtape), The City is in Good Hands and the That’s My Work series, as well as 2009’s “Day Dreaming” alongside Akon and T.I.
T.I.Gangsta Grillz: I Still Got It marks Snoop Dogg’s second full-length release of 2022 following his 19th studio album Bacc On Death Row, which arrived in February and featured appearances from Nas, T.I., DaBaby and more.
Snoop recently announced he’s working on a new album with Dr. Dre called Missionary — the spiritual successor to 1993’s Doggystyle — which is due to be finished in November.
DJ Drama, meanwhile, has previously released several Gangsta Grillz projects this year, including J. Cole and Dreamville’s D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, Jim Jones’ We Set the Trends and Symba’s Results Take Time.
Mr. Thanksgiving is currently gearing up to release Snofall with old friend Jeezy on Friday (October 21) and has teased another mixtape with Tory Lanez.
Drama’s storied Gangsta Grillz series has enjoyed a renaissance in recent years, thanks in part to Tyler, The Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost, which topped the Billboard 200 and took home Best Rap Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
