One of the most controversial figures of today, Kanye West has made a series of blunders over the past few years. The rapper has displayed erratic behavior in the past as well, but his rants became even more frequent after his divorce from Kim Kardashian. In the wake of his anti-semantic remarks, several brands and companies dropped him costing him millions of dollars. US comedian Steve Harvey happens to be the latest addition to the list of celebs that have criticized the rapper.
In a recent interview with Gulf News, the 65-year-old didn’t hold back when he talked about celebrity culture and the “un-geniusness” of Ye.
Steve Harvey roasts Kanye West for his controversial comments
Harvey was in the UAE to promote the country. He has had a long-standing bond with the country. While dispelling the stereotypes about the Middle East, he made a point about how celebrities can help grow the tourism industry of a country. However, celebs like Ye definitely do not make the cut. He took the opportunity to voice his dislike for his Donda rapper’s recent statements.
Listen, because you’re a celebrity, it doesn’t make you smart. Look at Kanye West. He’s just crazy. You keep saying you are a genius but you keep saying stuff that’s very un-genius like,” said Harvey. After the White Lives Matter incident, Ye claimed that the Jewish people were extremely powerful and that they control the majority of the media.
This prompted brands like Adidas, GAP, and Balenciaga to cut their ties with the producer. His anti-semitic views cost him billions of dollars. It hit him hard and he dropped off the list of billionaires. He was also banned from social media until Elon Musk took over the reins.
As soon as his account was reinstated, he posted about going on a verbal fast but as it turned out, he could not stick to his plan. He recently made another claim that Michael B Jordan’s father was sacrificed.
Do you agree with Steve?
