Swae Lee and Post Malone have apparently got an entire album’s worth of material they’ve been working on over the past few years.
In an interview with XXL published on Wednesday (November 23), the Rae Sremmurd star revealed he and Posty have enough music to release a full collaborative project at any given moment while describing his unique relationship with the Twelve Carat Toothache rapper
“Me and Post, we got a whole project together like, you know what I’m sayin’, we just been cooking up,” Swae Lee said. “That’s my bro. We been on tour together. We done it all. We got a project we could drop together right now if we wanted to.”
While the “Black Beatles” rapper did not confirm whether or not he and Post Malone have plans to release new music together, he did seem enthusiastic about the creative potential of their relationship as time goes on
I think we should just continue cooking up and seeing where it goes,” he said. “The sky is the limit with that shit.”
The two artists established their creative chemistry on records such as Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys album cut “Spoil My Night,” and their 2017 smash “Sunflower,” which recently surpassed Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” as the highest-certified song in RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) history after receiving a 17x multi-platinum certification.
In an Instagram post earlier this, Swae Lee remarked on the making of the record-breaking collab. “Ay aaaay aaay AAAY [Sunflower emojis] The biggest song since Happy Birthday – Mike Will,” Swae Lee wrote in the caption. “Made this song on a normal day just working and vibing who knew it would make history ….just shows you to keep doing what is right and the Highest up will handle the Rest.
“Coming from nothing to this I’m honestly speechless thank you all for 17X platinum and making history with us BIGGEST SONG IN HISTORY [Surprised emoji and heart emoji], and more on the WAY THATS A PROMISE ! Love to Posty ,Louis Bell , and spidey [Spider emoji].”
The potential for a collaborative project by Swae Lee and Post Malone to become a commercial-selling hit adds to the hype of their unofficial project, considering both are diamond-selling artists and are responsible for Billboard chart-topping records such as French Montana and Swae Lee’s 2017 collaboration “Unforgettable,” and Post Malone and 21 Savage’s 2018 hit single “Rockstar.”
Speaking of superstar collaborative projects, Drake and 21 Savage recently raised the bar for what the successful release of a joint-effort project could look like with their new project Her Loss, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart earlier this month after selling 411,000 album equivalent units in its opening week.
Additionally, Drizzy and 21’s collaborative LP placed an impressive eight songs in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, occupying every spot from No. 2 to No. 9. The meme-friendly track “Rich Flex” led the way at No. 2, followed by early fan favorites such as “Major Distribution,” “On BS” and “Spin Bout U.”
