Boosie Badazz Says Jay-Z Is Musically Irrelevant and Only Respected for His Money

Boosie Badazz (Lil Boosie) shares his hot take on whether Jay-Z is still relevant nowadays. While speaking on VladTV, the Baton Rouge spitter suggested that Hov is no longer relevant when it comes to his music.

He noted that when he goes to the clubs catering to 25 to 35-year-olds in Atlanta, he’s not hearing them playing either Jay-Z or Nas. “Every club that I go in, it’s not one or the other,” Boosie shared. “I’m outside!”

“Jay-Z is respected by these people for being that boss that he is. When Jay-Z flash ‘cross that motherf**ker, it’s somethin’ with a billion dollars. It’s somethin’ with a $500 billion, $200 billion…,” he added. “It ain’t no song slashin’ ‘cross social media. It’s his hustle!”

He continued, “That n***a has a hustle. That’s what everybody f**k about him relevant right now.” The host, however, pointed out that when DJ Khaled delivered “God Did” with a lengthy Jay-Z verse, “Hip Hop stopped.” Vlad added, “They all listened. Everyone had something to say about that verse. That verse was tough.” Despite that, Boosie still didn’t think that Jay-Z is relevant for his music

Elsewhere in the interview, Boosie also talked about Nas’ relevancy and 21 Savage’s controversial comments on it. The “Wipe Me Down” rapper appeared to think that Nas is still relevant, but mostly among his fans, since “he just won a Grammy” and “his records are doing great.”

The only caveat was that “half of [Nas’ fans] are dead.” Boosie elaborated, “All them n***as in Queens bro, most of all of Nas and Pac fans, they’re dead.” He also praised Nas by saying that he’s the only rapper of his era that has continued to do big numbers when his albums drop without “a Taylor Swift machine” behind him.

The conversation arrived after 21 Savage landed in hot water for saying Nas was no longer relevant among today’s crowd of rappers. “What y’all saying, relevant though? I don’t feel like he’s relevant. I just feel like he got fans,” he said during a heated Clubhouse debate, referring to the “Kings Disease 3” artist.

Doubling down on his remarks, the “Spin Bout You” spitter stressed, “He’s not relevant, he just has a loyal a** fan base.” He went on to note, “He just has a loyal fan base and he still make good-a** music.”

Following the backlash, 21 Savage clarified his comments on Twitter. Denying that he was disrespecting Nas, he tweeted, “I would never disrespect nas or any legend who paved the way for me y’all be tryna take stuff and run with it.”

Despite the drama, Nas apparently has no hard feelings toward 21 Savage. Instead of beefing, the “Get Down” rapper teamed up with him for a new joint single titled “One Mic, One Gun” which was released on Tuesday, November 29.
