LIL WAYNE ANNOUNCES ‘WELCOME TO THA CARTER’ TOUR

Lil Wayne has announced that he is hitting the road this spring.

Weezy announced on Tuesday (January 31) that he is collaborating with Young Money, Rolling Loud and Live Nation for a 28-city tour titled Welcome To Tha Carter

The trek kicks off on April 4 at The Fillmore in Minneapolis and will continue through Detroit, Toronto, Houston, New York and other cities before wrapping in Los Angeles at The Wiltern on May 13.

Tickets go on sale on Friday (February 3) at 10 a.m. local time via Live Nation.

The tour announcement comes ahead of The Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective pre-Grammy event, where Lil Wayne is set to receive the Global Impact Award to commemorate his legendary contributions to the music industry. He will be honored alongside Missy Elliott — his “favorite rapper” — and Dr. Dre.

Sponsored by Amazon Music and Google Pixel Phone, the Recording Academy Honors Presented By The Black Music Collective are a part of GRAMMY Week 2023, concluding with the Grammy Awards which take place on February 5 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

It also arrives as Tunechi remains hard at work on his new album, Tha Carter 6, which he announced during his Young Money reunion performance with Drake and Nicki Minaj at the 6 God’s October World Weekend festival last summer.

The New Orleans native has only added to the excitement for the highly-anticipated project by hitting the studio with the likes of Wyclef Jean and Juelz Santana, both of whom he’s collaborated with on hits in the past.

While there’s no word on a release date just yet, Tha Carter 6 will serve as the sequel to 2018’s Tha Carter V and Lil Wayne’s first studio offering since Funeral, which dropped in 2020.
