Busta Rhymes and Young Thug have teamed up for a brand new track that gives us another taste of the Dungeon Dragon’s upcoming Blockbusta LP.
Released on Friday (November 10), “OK” is the third collaborative track fans have gotten in recent months. First was “Beach Ball” with BIA, released in the summer
The Coi Leray collab “Luxury Life” followed in September, which uses the same “Seven Minutes of Funk” sample and hook melody as JAY-Z’s “Ain’t No N-gga” as an homage to that earlier male-female duet. It arrived with its own Tarantino-inspired video.
Produced by Cool & Dre, you check out “OK” below:
Blockbusta, which comes out on November 24, was first announced last month via an Instagram post that included a Zoom call with Busta and the record’s other executive producers, all of whom are big names — Pharrell, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz.
“This project right here is executive produced by the fucking committee,” Swizzy says in the clip. “Pharrell the Pharaoh, Timbo the King, Swizz Beatz the student.”
Busta added to the group: “I’m so grateful that you chose me to be a part of your legacy.”
Pharrell said of the album: “You really feel illuminated. This illumination is good because I think people gon’ be able to get and feel that,” while Timbo added: “Timeless.”
Busta is currently on the road with 50 Cent as part of his Final Lap Tour.
Meanwhile, Young Thug is currently awaiting trial in the YSL RICO case. The judge in the case, Ural Glanville, recently ruled that Thug’s lyrics will be admissible in court.
He told defense attorneys that the state was “not prosecuting your clients because of the songs they wrote. They’re using the songs to prove other things your clients may have been involved in.”
