Ryan Leslie has returned with You Know My Speed, his first album in almost 10 years — stream it below.
Leslie’s last full-length release was 2015’s MZRT, which he distributed himself, with You Know My Speed also released through his own label Black Phoenix Enterprises
Clocking in at 10 tracks and almost 38 minutes in length, You Know My Speed includes a sole feature from fellow R&B star Bobby V on album closer “Sounds.”
Leslie also released a video for single “Falling Hard,” which sees him performing the song in a recording studio.
To coincide with the album’s release, Ryan Leslie also announced a European tour that takes place in March and April this year.
The 10-date trek will begin at London’s O2 Academy before heading to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands and finally France.
Leslie previously discussed his imminent return to music last year in an interview with Sway Calloway.
“I figured we play the album before we drop it. So, we’re gonna play it live,” the singer/producer said ahead of a performance in Cologne, Germany
I’ve had a big following for the longest time in Germany and so we’re doing an open-air festival-type conference — concert actually. It’s going to be about 3,000 folks but people are really flying in from all over the world.”
“It’s going to be great. It’s been a minute,” concluded Leslie, who took a step back from music to launch a business in the tech space, SuperPhone, which aids to help creatives and businesses increase engagement, drive revenue and build better relationships with SMS/MMS marketing.
In 2009, Leslie stormed onto the music scene with his breezy, lovestruck self-titled debut album, which spawned singles such as the classic “Diamond Girl” and “How It Was Supposed To Be.”
His follow-up, Transition, went on to be nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. However, the award ultimately went to Usher‘s Raymond vs. Raymond.
He is also known for discovering Cassie and producing her widely successful self-titled debut album. Leslie has also collaborated with artists such as Kanye West, Chris Brown and LL COOL J.
Leslie recently revealed that Cassie is plotting a comeback tour after she settled her sexual assault lawsuit with ex-boyfriend Diddy.
