MIA Claims Jay-Z Suggested She Get Plastic Surgery

MIA is opening up about her experiences working with Jay-Z, alleging that the music mogul advised her to undergo plastic surgery after she signed with Roc Nation. The artist shared her thoughts online, emphasizing that she felt secure in her own skin and ultimately chose not to follow his suggestion.

In her statements, MIA recounted, “Even when I met Jay-Z and signed to Roc Nation, the first thing he told me to do was get plastic surgery.” She refuted claims of insecurity, asserting that if she were truly insecure, she would have altered her appearance. “I’m not insecure because I would have gotten plastic surgery,” she explained. “So the argument that ‘Maya’s insecure, that’s why she needs to massage her ego’ falls flat. Ask yourself, what women do you know who haven’t had plastic surgery? I’m the only one who hasn’t.”

MIA Explains Decision Not To Get Plastic Surgery

MIA further detailed her decision to embrace her natural self, stating, “If I was insecure, I would have done that a hundred times over. I’m completely fine with being [50]. I took off when I was 30. It took me ten more years than anyone else because I was the first and I was doing something interesting that hadn’t happened before.” Fans have praised MIA for remaining true to herself and resisting the pressures often placed on women in the industry. As of now, Jay-Z has not publicly addressed these allegations.

In addition, MIA isn’t the only artist to reflect on her experiences with Jay-Z recently. In a new episode of J. Cole’s Inevitable series, Cole recounted how Jay-Z once told Drake to give him a hit in front of others, which left the room in disbelief. “We were all like ‘what?’” Cole remembered, noting that Future’s reaction was one of embarrassment.
