Floyd Mayweather Attacked by Mob in London Over Support for Israel
Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather was reportedly assaulted by a hostile crowd in London due to his outspoken support for Israel and the Jewish community, according to eyewitness accounts.
The 47-year-old boxing champion was shopping in the upscale Hatton Garden area when he became the target of the mob, with videos circulating on social media capturing the incident.
Witnesses claim that members of the group hurled racial slurs at Mayweather, who was accompanied by security personnel. At least one individual attempted to strike him, as reported by The Sun.
An onlooker stated that tensions escalated when Mayweather expressed his pride in supporting the Jewish community. “Someone mentioned Mayweather had been shopping when he was asked why he supported Israel,” the witness said. The crowd, estimated to be around 20 to 30 people, confronted him, accusing the retired boxer of endorsing genocide.
“He stood firm and reiterated that he was proud to support the Jews,” they continued, noting that the attack seemed intentional. However, a source close to Mayweather confirmed that he was not physically harmed during the incident.
Following the altercation, Mayweather took to Instagram to clarify that he “wasn’t punched or touched in any way.” He emphasized that the scene was merely his security team doing their job to maintain order. “I’m perfectly fine, and there’s nothing more to it,” he added.
This confrontation occurred shortly after Mayweather announced the launch of the Mayweather Israel Initiative, a charity aimed at supporting Israeli orphans. The initiative, unveiled just days prior, promises to provide every orphan in Israel with a free birthday gift. “Over the next year, every orphan in Israel will be visited by the Floyd Mobile and receive special birthday gifts,” Mayweather wrote.
Mayweather, who has previously referred to Israel as his “home away from home,” was one of the first prominent celebrities to visit the country following the Hamas attacks on October 7. During his visit, he hosted a barbecue for Israeli Defense Forces troops and met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the country’s history.
“It was an honor to meet with you today. Your strength and courage are unmatched,” Mayweather expressed online after the meeting, praising Netanyahu’s commitment to protecting the Jewish people.
Mayweather described his recent trip to Israel as “deeply emotional,” stating, “Visiting injured soldiers, meeting families of fallen heroes, and connecting with the people of Israel has been a humbling experience.”
