Freddie Gibbs has reignited his longstanding feud with Benny The Butcher in his latest song, “The Big 2.” The two rappers, who have had a tumultuous relationship since 2022, are once again at odds, with Gibbs taking thinly-veiled jabs at Benny over his past romantic involvement with Gibbs’ ex-girlfriend.
In the track, Gibbs raps, “I seen my ex ho with the opps, I never get into drama / They both got crackhead mommas, they got some shit in common,” referencing Benny’s recent association with Gibbs’ former partner, porn star Destini Creams, shortly after she gave birth to Gibbs’ child.
Gibbs continues to take shots at Benny, mocking his health issues and past shooting, rapping, “N-gga you was born an addict, pussy n-gga asthmatic / Don’t fuck with The Rabbit, the day you die, bitch, I’ma hashtag it.” He also questions the commercial success of Benny’s Def Jam debut, Everybody Can’t Go, claiming, “My naked ass got more promo than your album.”
In “The Big 2,” Gibbs also comments on the ongoing “Big Three” debate involving Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and J. Cole, asserting his own unique position in the rap game. He has been active in making headlines, recently taking aim at J. Cole for stepping back from a rivalry with Kendrick and accusing Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR of borrowing from his style.
This latest release showcases Gibbs’ penchant for stirring up drama while asserting his position in the hip hop hierarchy. As the feud with Benny continues, fans are left to wonder how this ongoing rivalry will evolve in the competitive landscape of rap.
