GloRilla Discusses Surprise Cameo on Selena Gomez’s Album and Lessons from Her First Tour

GloRilla is embracing the thrill of surprises in her career, most recently with her unexpected feature on Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s new collaborative album, I Said I Love You First. The Memphis rapper opened up about this exciting moment and her ongoing Glorious tour during a halftime performance at the McDonald’s All American Games.

“I like it, and I like how it shocks people,” GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, shared with PEOPLE. “I was excited because I love Selena, so when Benny hit me up, I was thrilled to be a part of it.” Her role in the track “Cowboy” has been well received, showcasing her unique flair in a brief but impactful appearance.

During her halftime performance at the Barclays Center on April 1, 2025, GloRilla delivered a high-energy set, featuring a selection of her hits, including “TGIF.” She aimed to create a performance that resonated with the young audience, saying, “I was going for something high school-kid friendly while still bringing a lot of energy.”

As she continues her Glorious tour, which supports her debut album released in 2024, GloRilla reflects on the valuable lessons she has learned along the way. “I learned to stop putting restrictions on myself,” she explained. “If there’s something I really want to do to make the show better, then I should practice on it and actually put it out there.”

GloRilla is not only focused on her current tour but is also working on her next album. She is exploring different musical directions while gathering inspiration from legendary artists like Beyoncé and Michael Jackson. “Honestly, when I go on tours, I look up Beyoncé tours,” she said, noting that she frequently revisits the 2007 Beyoncé Experience tour for ideas.

With nearly six months since the release of Glorious, GloRilla has made significant strides in her career, including her debut on Saturday Night Live and accolades like the Powerhouse award at Billboard Women In Music 2025. As she prepares for upcoming performances at events like Coachella and Dreamville Fest, GloRilla is eager to continue evolving as an artist while engaging with her audience.

As the young rapper navigates her burgeoning career, she remains committed to delivering authentic and compelling music. “I’m trying to see the type of lane that I want to go in,” she said about her upcoming album. “Because the songs are good, but I just be trying to listen from a fan point of view.”

With her energetic performances and innovative collaborations, GloRilla is poised to make an even bigger impact in the music industry in the months ahead.
