Rapper 6ix9ine, whose legal name is Daniel Hernandez, may be heading back to prison following a judge’s order for him to appear in federal court due to multiple violations of his supervised release. The court hearing is scheduled for April 21 at 10:30 a.m. before Judge Paul Engelmayer.
This development comes shortly after 6ix9ine celebrated the end of his house arrest with a splashy pool dive, accompanied by music and cheering friends, signaling what he hoped would be a fresh start after months of confinement. However, despite removing his ankle monitor, he remains on federal probation until November 2025.
His release terms were established after he cooperated in a high-profile RICO trial involving the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, including his former manager. The terms of his probation include strict travel restrictions, mandatory drug testing, and a ban on firearms.
6ix9ine has faced a series of legal troubles over the past two years. In October 2024, he was arrested in New York for unauthorized travel to Las Vegas, skipping drug tests, and testing positive for methamphetamines. He pleaded guilty to five probation violations and served 45 days in jail, with the judge warning him about the seriousness of his continued noncompliance.
In March 2025, law enforcement conducted a probation check at his Florida home, where they seized firearms and narcotics. Although he was not arrested due to insufficient evidence, authorities detained him for several hours and collected DNA samples.
Now, Judge Engelmayer will determine whether these latest violations warrant additional jail time. If found in breach of his supervised release again, 6ix9ine could face a return to prison.
This court summons comes on the heels of a disappointing week for the rapper, who released two new songs, “HANNA” and “POPPA,” that received negative feedback from listeners on social media. As the situation develops, fans and observers are left to wonder about the future of his career and legal standing.
