In a significant law enforcement operation, nearly two dozen members of the notorious 800 YGs gang have been indicted for their involvement in multiple shootings and a homicide, as announced by officials on Thursday. This gang has been a persistent source of violence in the Crotona section of the Bronx for years, exhibiting what authorities describe as an “absolute disregard for human life.”

The indictments come as part of an extensive investigation into the gang’s activities, which have been linked to 14 separate shootings, including one homicide and two non-fatal shootings. The actions of the 800 YGs gang have instilled fear in the community and highlighted the ongoing issues of gang violence in New York City.
At a press conference, Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, alongside Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, emphasized the seriousness of the gang’s offenses and the commitment to combating such violence in the city. The crackdown is seen as a crucial step in restoring safety and security to neighborhoods plagued by gang activity.
As law enforcement continues to address gang-related crime, the indictment of the 800 YGs serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against violence and the importance of community safety.
