Join us on August 9 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Stapleton Waterfront Park in Staten Island for a special hip-hop concert hosted by Video Music Box’s “Uncle” Ralph McDaniels. This free event is an all-ages celebration of hip-hop’s rich history, featuring iconic artists who have shaped the genre.

Headlining the show is Rakim, widely regarded as one of the greatest MCs of all time. Known for his groundbreaking work with Eric B., Rakim revolutionized hip-hop with his intricate multisyllabic rhyme schemes and distinctive flow. He is set to perform classic hits such as “Follow the Leader,” “I Ain’t No Joke,” and “Let the Rhythm Hit ‘Em,” alongside solo tracks like “Guess Who’s Back.”

The lineup also includes Positive K, the Bronx rapper famous for his 1992 hit “I Got a Man” and his collaboration with MC Lyte on “I’m Not Havin’ It.” Sweet Tee, known for her hit “It’s My Beat” featuring DJ Jazzy Joyce, will also take the stage. Joining them will be Joe Ski Love, best recognized for his platinum-selling single “Pee Wee’s Dance,” and Nice & Smooth, the Bronx duo who gained fame in the ‘90s with their guest spot on Big Daddy Kane’s “Pimpin Ain’t Easy.” Rounding out the lineup is DJ Chubby Chub, who has toured with 50 Cent and hosts multiple radio shows in Boston.
