In a heartfelt show of solidarity, reggae artist Jah Cure has thanked dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel for publicly advocating for his freedom during a recent social media live session. Kartel, fondly referring to Jah Cure as the “baddest” reggae singer alive, passionately voiced his support while enjoying some of Jah Cure’s classic hits, including “Longing For,” “Never Find,” and “Unconditional Love.”
Jah Cure, whose real name is Siccature Alcock, shared a clip of Kartel’s live stream on Instagram, captioning it with a powerful quote: “Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without.” He expressed his gratitude, stating, “Real recognize real, even the Worldboss knows. The best is yet to come. Thank you, my brother, for appreciating good music. #freedomisamust.”
Currently incarcerated in the Netherlands, Jah Cure has been serving a six-year sentence for an attempted manslaughter charge related to an incident in October 2021, where he stabbed Dutch concert promoter Nicardo ‘Papa’ Blake over unpaid fees. Although he was acquitted of the more serious attempted murder charge, Dutch prosecutors have appealed the ruling, prolonging his legal battle. A crucial hearing is set for June 18 at the Netherlands Court of Appeal, where Jah Cure’s fate will again be in the spotlight.
As both artists navigate their challenges, the solidarity shown by Vybz Kartel serves as a reminder of the power of connection and support within the music community.
