As the 25th anniversary of the BET Awards approaches, the network has unveiled an exciting roster of performers that promises to deliver an unforgettable night of music and celebration. Among the headliners are rap icon Lil Wayne, multi-talented artist Teyana Taylor, and rising star Playboi Carti, along with Memphis sensation GloRilla and singer Leon Thomas.
The awards ceremony will take place live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 9th at 8 PM on BET, with a tape-delayed broadcast for West Coast viewers. Connie Orlando, the EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We’re setting the tone for a night that celebrates 25 years of impact, creativity, and Black culture.”
Adding to the excitement, comedian Kevin Hart will host the event, ensuring a lively atmosphere. Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations with an impressive 10 nods, while Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla follow closely with six nominations each. Other notable nominees include Metro Boomin with five nominations and SZA and The Weeknd, each earning four.
In addition to the stellar performances, the BET Awards will feature a special tribute to the beloved show “106 & Park,” creatively directed by Teyana Taylor. The tribute will showcase iconic hosts such as AJ Calloway, Free Marie Wright, and Terrence J, along with performances from fan favorites like Amerie, B2K, Jim Jones, Mya, T.I., and Bow Wow.
