Pusha T disclosed that Def Jam requested he ask Kendrick to censor his verse, a demand he refused to comply with. The situation escalated when Def Jam’s lawyer indicated that if the verse remained, the label would drop Clipse altogether. Pusha explained, “They wanted me to ask Kendrick to censor his verse, which of course I was never doing. And then they wanted me to take the record off. And so, after a month of not doing it, Steve Gawley, the lawyer over there was like, ‘We’ll just drop the Clipse.’”
The label’s apprehension stemmed from concerns regarding the optics of two of Drake’s rivals collaborating on a track amidst his ongoing lawsuit against UMG. Consequently, Clipse decided to leave Def Jam and have since signed with Roc Nation to release their highly anticipated reunion album.
In addition to the shake-up with their label, Clipse recently announced the release date for “Let God Sort Em Out,” which will arrive on July 11. The album is executive produced by longtime collaborator Pharrell Williams and was recorded at the headquarters of Louis Vuitton in Paris.

The artistic direction for the project has also been supported by renowned artist KAWS, who designed the album’s artwork.
