Celebrating 26 Years of Capone-N-Noreaga’s Iconic Album “The War Report”

On June 17, 1997, Queens natives Capone and Noreaga, collectively known as Capone-N-Noreaga, released their seminal album The War Report. This influential project features standout singles such as “L.A., L.A.,” “T.O.N.Y.,” “Illegal Life,” and “Closer.” The album is notable for its strong underground vibe, yet it achieved significant commercial success, earning a spot in the Top Five of the Hip Hop/R&B charts in 1997 and being certified Gold in the US.

A key contributor to the album’s sound and direction was Tragedy Khadafi, who appeared on more than half of the tracks and took on the roles of both producer and executive producer. His influence helped shape the gritty, authentic feel that resonated with fans and critics alike.

The War Report peaked at No. 21 on the US Billboard 200 and reached No. 4 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, solidifying its place in hip-hop history.
