R. Kelly Reportedly Overdoses in Solitary Confinement; Lawyer Blames Prison Staff for Lethal Medication Dose

R. Kelly’s attorney has raised alarming concerns regarding the singer’s safety while incarcerated, alleging that he suffered a medical emergency due to an overdose of medication while in solitary confinement. According to documents reviewed by AllHipHop, the incident occurred shortly after Kelly’s legal team filed motions in court, claiming that the Bureau of Prisons was endangering his life.

Just two days after the legal filing, the 58-year-old R&B artist was placed in isolation and reportedly administered an excessive amount of medication. The following morning, Kelly collapsed in his cell, experiencing severe symptoms including dizziness, vision loss, and fainting. He was subsequently rushed to Duke University Hospital, where doctors determined the dosage he received could have been lethal.

“That means that, within two days of the filing of his motion, Bureau of Prisons officials administered an amount of medication that significantly exceeded a safe dose and caused Mr. Kelly to overdose, putting his life in jeopardy,” stated his attorney, Beau B. Brindley. “They gave him an amount of medicine that could have killed him.”

Brindley further revealed that after doctors discovered blood clots in both of Kelly’s legs and lungs, which necessitated surgery, armed officers entered his hospital room to remove him, denying him the critical medical intervention required to address the life-threatening clots.

The legal team’s third emergency motion for release alleges ongoing threats against Kelly, including claims from a fellow inmate that prison staff and white supremacists are targeting him. Brindley emphasized, “This will be confirmed by hospital records. It is undeniable.”

As the situation unfolds, the implications of R. Kelly’s medical crisis and the accusations against prison staff raise significant questions about the treatment of inmates and the responsibilities of correctional facilities to ensure their safety and well-being.
