On July 17, 2025, the Prudential Center in Newark was electrified as Wu-Tang Clan delivered an unforgettable performance, highlighted by surprise appearances from R&B legends Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige. The night was filled with nostalgia and celebration, as fans were treated to a musical experience that transcended genres.
As Lauryn Hill took the stage, she greeted the audience with warmth, saying, “What’s up Jersey? I’m just here to serenade the gods.” Dressed in a Wu-Tang Clan jacket and regal neck rings, Hill captivated the crowd with powerful renditions of her classics, including “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” “To Zion,” performed alongside her son Zion Marley, and the emotionally charged “X-Factor.” Reflecting on her shared history with the Wu-Tang Clan, she noted, “This is a nostalgic moment for me… Fugees, the Wu came out the same time.”
The chemistry between Hill and the Wu-Tang members was palpable, with Ghostface Killah expressing his admiration, stating, “I love you, I love you. God damn, this is like a (blanking) dream right now.” The mutual respect and admiration between these iconic artists set the tone for an extraordinary evening.
The Wu-Tang Clan, formed in 1992 in Staten Island, is currently on their “Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber” tour, billed as their farewell.
